Seminarieparken

May 2024

As part of the biennal Craft Day’s program, representatives from the Morus Project held silk workshops in Seminarieparken – a public garden in Gothenburg where an old mulberry tree grows. For the coming season of home-sericulture, leaves from this specific tree will be used to feed the new worms. The workshop included a tree hunt for kids, who were given a map consisting of clues to find the old mulberry tree.

The event was realised with support of Gothenburg City.

Blesselska gården, Fårö

July 2023

The first Morus silk thread-workshop took place on Fårö. On this particular farm, Elisabeth Blessell (after marriage: Kahl) was born in 1791. Elisabeth Kahl was a teacher in sericulture in Visby from 1840-1845. Her students were a group of young women and widows at an institution called Arbetshuset. We are very grateful to the owners who welcomed us to their home.
